It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles McCarter of Gastonia, North Carolina, born in York, South Carolina, who passed away on February 23, 2022, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, D. D. McCarter and Beatrice Grayson McCarter; his wife Effie P. McCarter; his son Charles McCarter, Jr.; and his sister Hazel McCarter Koontz.
He is survived by: his son Mitchell Brent McCarter; his stepson Leland "Buster" Lewis (Kathy); and also, Willie, Inez Torro and Bella.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Gastonia, 1621 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC.
