He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Laddy Gilbert and Grace McCraw Gilbert; his daughter Diane Amaya; his brother Rudy Gilbert; and his nephews, Rusty and Jeffrey Gilbert.

He is survived by: his wife Veronica Gilbert; his children, Donna Allardice and Derek Felan; his daughter-in-law Christine Felan; his grandchildren, Erica Amaya, Bobby Amaya, Gavin Felan, Lauren Allardice, Chance Felan and Bailey Felan; his siblings, Mary Sue McIntyre and Steve Gilbert; his niece Hannah McIntyre; and his nephew Steven Gilbert.
