With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Betty Poteat (Gastonia, North Carolina), born in Gaston, North Carolina, who passed away on September 26, 2022 at the age of 86. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jennings Hoffman and Margaret Avery Hoffman; her husband Frank Henry Poteat; her son Melvin Franklin Poteat; and her siblings, Jerry, Fred, Joel Hoffman, Judy Hoffman and Linda Savage.
She is survived by: her daughters, Wanda Nalley and Marsha Rimmer (Steve) of Gastonia; her siblings, J. B. Hoffman (Joyce), Sylvia Roberts and Mary Ellen Hardin (Allen); and her grandchildren, Tresa VanDyke, Crystal Parker, Troy Rimmer, Tim Rimmer, Chris Poteat, Casey Poteat and Lacie Harris. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
