She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Guy Canipe and Edna Bumgarner Canipe; her husband Charles M. Ferguson II; her son Thomas "Tom" Guy Roberts; her siblings, Kenneth Canipe, Mildred Church, Helen Abee, Dorothy Beveridge and Linda Stout; and her son-in-law Kelly B. Ottinger.
She is survived by: her children, Janet Smith (Gene), Carol Ottinger and Charles Ferguson III; her grandchildren, Miriam Pendry, Rachel Smith, Thomas Smith and Hannah Ottinger; her great grandchild Emma Pendry; and her siblings, Jerry Canipe, Shirley Carter, Beverly Cloer and Elaine Canipe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) - 5104 Western Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27606.
