He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Tate Byers and Jency Shuford Byers; and his brother Terry Byers. He is survived by: his sons, Barry Reid Byers, II (Julia) and Brenten Augustus Byers (Malissa); his stepdaughter Michelle Lake; his grandchildren, Merrie Byers, Marielle Byers, Gianmarc Byers, Emersen Lake and Dylan Lake; his brothers, Alton Byers and Calvin Byers; and his sister-in-law Mary "Cissy" Byers. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia (700 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054).
