It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Annabelle Matthews Royster (Gastonia, North Carolina), born in Teaneck, New Jersey, who passed away on May 27, 2020, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her former husband James Houston Matthews, Jr.; her husband David Wyeth Royster; her siblings, Charlene Kissinger, Phyllis Suddeth, Jeanne Zeigler, Branson Zeigler and Charles Zeigler; and her stepdaughters, Kathy Burgin and Peggy Porter.

She is survived by: her children, Reverend James Houston Matthews, III (Shay), Vann Marshall Matthews (Alice), Annabelle M. Kelly (Bill) of Gastonia and Nora M. Hale (Duke) of Rome, GA; her stepchildren, David Royster, III and Lynn Roach; and her brother-in-law Frank Matthews. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
