He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hughes and Lillie Mae Simmons Hughes; his daughter Tonya Duval; and his siblings, Carolyn Holloman and Earl Goode.
He is survived by: his daughter Lakesha Champion of New York; his grandson Anthony Duvall of Washington, DC; and his siblings, Malinda McNeil (Reginald), Gene Hughes (Lorraine-Maryland Melvin), Betty Hughes (Michael), Donald Hughes- of North Carolina, Yvette Hughes- of North Carolina, Valarie Hughes (Tony) and Shirley Sanders.
