She was predeceased by: her husband John; her sister Doris Mitchell McClenney; and her godson Charles Hughes. She is survived by: her cousin God-Grandmother; her niece Vicki Zorita Edwards; her great-nieces, Anika Edwards of Elizabeth City and Alexis Edwards Brooks (Kevin, Sr.) of Elizabeth City; her godchildren, Keith Hughes of Poughkeepsie, Ronnie Hughes of Poughkeepsie, Cheryl D. Edwards of Garysburg and Elaine MacKey Richardson of Neptune; her close friends, Geneva Branch of Rich Square and Vera Story of Elizabeth City; and also, T'ea Brooks, Zorita Edwards, Alexandria McCoy, Kevin Brooks, Jr., Bruce Bailey, Jr., Anthony McCoy and Dorothy Daniels of Garysburg.
