“To Felicia and to the Womack family. I was saddened to hear of Joe's passing. "My thoughts are with you and the family during this difficult time." Joe was a kind, wonderful person and a great Marine." I never saw him without a smile on his face. We served together aboard the USS Guam (LPH-9) in 1986. Stephen Michael Gibb wrote a sympathy message

“Joe was a truly great man, his life will be remembered for the kindness he showed and the genuineness of his actions everywhere he went and with everyone that knew him, I have seen that life is not as much about the quantity of time but the quality of the time that they had and the positive effects that they leave in their aftermath. Joe Womack spent his life in service to others from his military service to his service in government where he showcased his dedication to others. Goodby my friend”

Sheryl Ames wrote a sympathy message

“Joe was an incredible teacher, employee, mentor, friend and man. His work ethic was amazing in how he beat us to class each day after driving in the dark to get there and who knows how many miles? As a student of his I never dreaded going to class because I knew he would make our lessons that were often times boring or difficult - fun as only he could. My condolences to his wonderful family who I know he loved deeply because he spoke of you often. He touched many lives and will be missed.”
