He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Thomas and Ava Stephenson Young; and his siblings, Ethel Thomas, Allie Deal and Owen Young.

He is survived by: his significant other Jean Owen; his children, Jay Young (June), Lynne Young Norman and Ronnie Young (Tracy Gray); and his sisters, Nell Partin, Alva Moore and Euba Stephenson. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren.
