He is survived by : his wife Caletha Denise Jenkins of Garner, NC; his children, Caletha Deannine Jenkins of Garner, NC, David L. Jenkins, Jr. of Garner, NC and Walter Jerrod Jenkins (Michelle) of Ayden, NC; his grandchildren, Hunter, Amber, Alyssa, Haylee and Hensley; his great grandchildren, Alina, Harper, Axel, Hudson, Oakley and Mason; his daughter-in-law Vickie; his niece Regina Williams; his sisters, Mary Gibbs, Doris Holden, Delores Moses (Mike) and Edith Debnam (Joshua); his brothers-in-law, Thomas Mattison and Thomas Freeman, II; and his close friend Deacon Percy Lee Parker.

Viewing was held on Wednesday, June 26th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Haywood Funeral Home (2415 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603). Visitation was held on Thursday, June 27th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sr. Memorial Chapel (2415 S Wilmington St, Raleigh, NC 27603). A funeral service was held on Thursday, June 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, June 27th 2024 at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (164 Longs Plant Farm Rd, Goldsboro, NC 27534).
