He was predeceased by: his parents, Lougene Smith Hemphill and James William Hemphill; and his brother James F. Hemphill. He is survived by: his niece Lauren E. Snyder; his nephew-in-law Adam C. Snyder of Burlington, NC; his niece Allison J. Hemphill of LaGrange; his great-nephew Elijah "Cole" Snyder; and his great-niece Mackenzie Myers. He is also survived by cousins and friends.
