It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Donald Ballard (Garner, North Carolina), born in Sparta, Kentucky, who passed away on April 26, 2020, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Ballard and Martha Elizabeth Robinson Ballard. He is survived by: his wife Anna Robinson Ballard; his children, Abigail Denise Ballard of Clayton and John Christopher Ballard of Raleigh; his sisters, Deane Bishop (Jerry) of Ocala, FL and Frankie Sue Akers of Lowmansville, KY; and his close friends, Donna, Don Wooten of Ashland, KY, Alison Grainger of Raleigh, Sharon and Chris Davis of Clayton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in Charles' name to the Salvation Army (who fed him after a flight back from Vietnam late at night when he had no money on him) or the Arboretum at Johnston Community College.
