He was predeceased by: his parents, Maddie James and Queen Ester Boykin; his siblings, Beatrice Murphy, Ossie Ruth Bennett, Versie Melvin, Tillie Jane Boykin, James "Bubba" Boykin and James Oscar Boykin; and his great grandchild Kween Highsmith.
He is survived by: his daughter Alfredia Highsmith; his grandsons, Kwame Highsmith of Elizabethtown and Tyrise Highsmith-Hall of Elizabethtown; his great grandchild Amirah Robinson of Garland; and his niece Sharon Swift. He is also survived by other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
