He was predeceased by: his parents, Sanford S. Smith and Grace Hilton Smith; and his siblings, Amos Smith, Doyle Smith, Worth Smith, Sylvia Smith Cain, Carol Smith Laymance and Sally Smith Lee.
He is survived by: his sons, Ralph S. Smith, Jr. (Rhonda) of Mt. Holly, NC and Randolph D. Smith (Randy); his grandsons, Mickey Smith of Wilmington, NC, Nickey Smith of Rocky Point, NC and Chandler Smith of Garland, NC; his brother Baxter Smith (Sheila) of Garland, NC.; and his significant other Cosmo.
