He is survived by: his wife Janice Owens Highsmith; his sons, Scott Highsmith of Elizabethtown, NC and Mario Highsmith; his grandchildren, Malik Townsend of South Carolina and Javion Highsmith of Charlotte, NC; and his siblings, Mary Highsmith, Margaret Highsmith of Philadelphia, PA, Joyce Autry (Leo) of Elizabethtown, NC, Annie Owens (Leander), Patricia Beamon, Gloria Highsmith of Garland, NC, Anna Mitchell (Robert) of Raleigh, NC, Gwedylon Pridgen (Gregory), Darlene Melvin of Elizabeth City, NC, Donald Highsmith of Fayetteville, NC, Dwight Highsmith (Cheryl) of Elizabethtown, NC and David Highsmith of Hopkinsville, KY.. He is also survived by four aunts along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
