He is survived by: his wife Glenda Mae Smith; his daughters, Tammy Lynette Smith of Clinton, NC and Stephanie Smith Howell (Johnny) of Lumberton, NC; his aunt Bonnie Smith Boyer of Roseboro, NC; his grandchildren, Tyler Glenn Starling (Emily Starling) of Clinton, NC, Courtney Brooke Suggs (Cody Suggs) of Clinton, Summerlin Leigh Starling of Clinton, NC and Charlotte Deneen Robinson (Grant Robinson) of Wendell, NC; his great grandchildren, Carson Royal, Blakely Suggs, Sawyer Faison, Harper Suggs, Sutton Faison, Corey Starling, Wrenley Suggs and Reese Robinson; and his caregivers, Carolyn Chestnutt and Mary Dowless.
