He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Lee and Virginia Cottle Futrell; and his siblings, Juanita Jackson, Roy Futrell and Jack Futrell.
He is survived by: his wife Winnie Potter Futrell; his children, Pamela Futrell of Clinton and Christopher Futrell (Mary) of Clinton; and his siblings, Mary Parker of Weaverville, Helen Tart of Goldsboro and George Futrell of Wilmington. He is also survived by four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
