It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ruth Dickens of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, who passed away on October 11, 2022, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Beatrice Elizabeth Ross and Bryant Rufus Ross (N. C.); her siblings, Marvin Ross (Myrtle) of Wake Forest, N. C. and Elsie Pearce (Bob) of Cary, N. C; her daughter-in-law Cindy Cates Godwin (Frank); and her husband Joseph Delano Dickens, Sr. (Joe).
She is survived by: her children, Donna Elizabeth Hudson of Marion, N. C, Robert Earl Godwin Jr. (Kum Sook) of Shanghai and Bryant Franklin Godwin (Frankie) of Fuquay Varina, N. C.; her grandchildren, Michael Boyce of Lake Anna, Farrah Rosenthal (Josh) of Hillsdale, Natalie Doebler (Matt) of St. Louis, Levi Godwin (Leslie) of Rossville, Robert "Bo" Godwin (Missy) of Lusby, Robert Godwin of Shanghai and Sonya Godwin Dang (Lan) of Chula Vista, California.; and her former husband Robert E. Godwin Sr.. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the SPCA of Wake County or St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
