He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Tidwell and Juanita Tidwell (Parker); and his siblings, Loretta Nash and L. D. Tidwell. He is survived by: his children, Michele Nagy (Jason), Michael Tidwell (Beth) and Cheryl Dillman (Brian); and his grandchildren, James Nagy (Angelou), Brandon Nagy (Hannah), Savannah Dillman, Nico, Lillia Reid (Johnathan), Emily Tidwell, Drew Tidwell and Katelyn Tidwell.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society—in honor of Michele Nagy—or to Transitions Lifecare in Raleigh.
