We are sad to announce that on November 27, 2023, at the age of 89, Portia Vann Mitchell Newman (Fuquay Varina, North Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph McPhail Mitchell and Portia Ida Vann Mitchell; and her siblings, Joyce Sauls, Wallace Mitchell, Buford Mitchell and Joe Mitchell.
She is survived by: her children, Ann Coble (Brad), Chuck Newman (Cynthia Gurganus) and Martha Newman (Pete); her grandsons, Chris Coble (JoBeth), Casey Coble (Lauren) and Cody Newman; her great grandchildren, Courtlynn and McKenna Coble; and her friend Windsor Point.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Seagull or to a charity of your choice.
