She was predeceased by : her spouse Charles "Rab" Barnes. She is survived by : her children, Robert N. Barnes, Jeffrey Lynn Barnes (Amy) of Pikeville, Andy Barnes and Bonnie James (Jesse) of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Charles Nathan James, Nolan Robert James and Jennifer Lynn Barnes; her great grandchild Haylie Grace James; and her sisters, Virginia M. Parrish and Esther Jo May.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, 125 S. John Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
