He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Hinton Hooks of Fremont, NC; his children, Jennifer Johnson of Montclair, NJ, Megan Johnson of Los Angeles, CA, Lara Smith (Rob Smith) of Apex, NC, Amy Johnson (Matthew King) of Wake Forest, NC and Kyle Hooks of Fremont, NC; his grandsons, Marc-Roman Guercio, Fletcher Smith, Charles King and Declan Smith; and his brothers, Martin Hooks (Dianne) and Tommy Hooks (Beth).
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the American Cancer Society.
