He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert James and Anna Perdue Lamonds, Sr.; his brother-in-law Phil Carter; and his nephew Shane Lamonds. He is survived by: his wife Pam Lamonds; his children, Angela Lynn Lamonds Hefner (David) of Conover, Brenda Tysinger (Wesley) of Troy, Philip Lamonds (Donna) of Willow Spring and Gary Lamonds of Seagrove; his siblings, Carolyn Haywood (Lonnie) of Candor, Jean Britt of Biscoe, Pattie Carter of Star, Ann Lamonds of Hamlet, Donald Lamonds of Biscoe, Joe Lamonds (Kimberly) of Biscoe and Neil Lamonds (Dani) of Biscoe; and his grandchildren, Miranda, Samantha, David, Gabriel and Cody. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
