He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Hoover and Mary Brewer Hoover Barber; his stepson Michael Lewis Spencer; and his stepfather Tommy Barber. He is survived by: his wife Mildred Cox Spencer Hoover; his daughter Penny Hoover of Asheboro; his stepson Mitchell Alex Spencer (Sandra) of Asheboro; his stepdaughter-in-law Fay Spencer of Randleman; his grandchildren, Chris Spencer (Beth) of Trinity, Celeste Spencer Long (Josh) of Asheboro and Vivian Spencer Holt (Tony) of Aberdeen; and his great grandchildren, Ali Spencer of Trinity, Kayla Lett of Trinity, Lillian Henson of Asheboro and Kaynah Long of Asheboro.
