He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Saunders and Pauline Kidd Saunders. He is survived by: his wife Robin Saunders; his children, Amy Thayer (Josh) of Asheboro and Carl Clifford "Chip" Saunders, III (Amanda) of Jacksonville, FL; and his grandchildren, Christian Aaron Kinney, Noah Reid Thayer, Aiden Cole Thayer and Jackson Nolan Saunders.
