It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Athene Gray (Franklinville, North Carolina), born in Winchester, Tennessee, who passed away on December 10, 2018, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Jerry Dean Gray; her son Ronnie Carter; her parents, James Ashley and Stella Ashley; and her siblings, Kelline Hudson of Climax, Linda Odum of Danville, Virginia and Grover Ashley of Tennessee.
She is survived by: her children, Tabitha Cook (Todd) of Franklinville, Vicki Carter of Huntsville, Phyllis Rutledge of Meridianville, Janice Thomas of Birmingham and Jerry Gray, Jr. (Holly) of Asheboro; and her stepdaughter Paula Emerick (Duwayne) of Lewes. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
