He was predeceased by: his parents, Selene Woodlief Wright and Richard Sydney Wright; and his wife Marie Wilson May Wright. He is survived by: his brother Charles Wright; his niece Theresa Dunnivan; his nephews, Randy Wright and Ricky Wright; his stepchildren, Patsy Haley, Charles May, Jr. and Alana May Adams; his grandchildren, Derek Haley, Joshua Conely and Katie May; and his great grandchildren, Derek Haley, Jr., Ava Conely and Frankie May. He is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rufus' name to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 1245 Mount Olivet Church Rd, Franklinton, NC 27525 and/or Franklinton American Legion Post 52, 40 American Legion Rd, Franklinton, NC 27525.
