She was predeceased by: her parents, William Latham and Agnes Latham; her siblings, Bill, Agnes, Carolyn and Sarah; her children, Barbara Burke Davis and Melvin Michael Burke; and her granddaughter Kenan Colbert Koll.
She is survived by: her former husband Melvin Burke; her daughters, Reba Burke Fitzgerald (Donnie) of Fairfield, Virginia, Sue Burke Colbert (Kenny) of Cornelius and Jane Burke Hagwood (Dean) of Louisburg; her daughter-in-law Lynn Ray Burke; her grandchildren, Todd Davis (Karen), Kirk Davis (Danielle), Ben Davis (Christina), Anthony Fitzgerald (Carol), Candace Camden, Karen Clemmer (Bobby), Sharon Leake (Daren), Brian Fitzgerald (Leslie), Scott Fitzgerald (Lindsey), Monica Logan (Justin), Pete Colbert, Kristy Wiles (Danny), Josh Burke (Alyssa), Jill Pollock (Tyler) and Michelle Hagwood (Hunter); her friends, Karen Preddy, Sharon, Tommy Bright and Brenda Walker; her husband Dean; her daughters, Jill and Michelle; and also Melvin Michael. She is also survived by three children, 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 10 great, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Bright Funeral Home (405 S Main St, Wake Forest, NC 27587). A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Bright Funeral Home Chapel (405 S Main St, Wake Forest, NC 27587). A burial was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at the Fairview Cemetery.
