He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Townsend and Elfriede Kluge Townsend; and his wife Annie Williamson Townsend. He is survived by: his son Vincent Smillie (Angela Stroud); his granddaughter Miranda Smillie; his sister Irene Rodgers; his nephew Andrew Rodgers; and his niece Lissa Townsend Rodgers.
