Hazel Thomas Obituary
Hazel Tart Thomas, 88, passed away on February 11, 2025 at her home in Franklinton, with her family by her side.
Hazel was born on April 20, 1936 to the late Sam and Beulah Currin Tart. In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Thomas; and her siblings, Bill Tart, Brenda Swonke, and Grady Tart.
Hazel is survived by her daughters, Contz Thomas, Cindy Denny and Darlene Tart (Donnie); and her granddaughter, Cherise Denny.
Hazel loved her family and always made sure that they had everything they needed. She loved to cook and enjoyed feeding those that she cared about, it is said that if you came to the house, you ate. Hazel cooked almost all the time, except for Friday nights, She and Joe would take the kids out to eat on Friday night. Hazel enjoyed bowling for a period and had trophies to show that she was pretty good at it. She was a strong woman and kept her home neat and in order.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Reverend Carl Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
