He was predeceased by: his parents, Julia McMurran and Roy Barnes; and his son Christian. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Ballard Barnes of Franklin, NC; his daughter Carrie Rogers [Mike Rogers] of Sylva, NC; and his sisters, Katy Martin (Michelle) and Michelle Givens of Placerville, CA..
