She was predeceased by: her father Vernon Altman; her siblings, Norman, Richard Altman and Yvonne Altman Willis; and her parent Zorabel Giddens Altman.

She is survived by: her husband Ron Thorson; her daughters, Tammy McDowell (Dennis) and Kim Clark (Richard); her grandchildren, Shawna McDowell, Taylor McDowell and Alex Clark Buchanan (Devin); and her pet Tex. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
