He was predeceased by: his father Jack Gurtler; and his brother Sam Gurtler. He is survived by: his wife Joan Hammonds Gurtler; his mother Camille Simon of Sequim, Washington; his children, Joshua Gurtler (Jana) of Morgantown, Jared Gurtler (Kendra) of Chelsea, John Samuel Gurtler (Alesha) of Tuscaloosa and Janna Gurtler Harris (Brett) of Prattville, Alabama.; and his brothers, Charles Simon (Hiroko) of Kurtistown and Matthew Simon (Kim) of Sequim, Washington..
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Macon Funeral Home (261 Iotla St, Franklin, NC 28734). A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
