He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Kirby and Flora L. Kirby; his wife Virginia Kirby; his son Timothy Kirby; his siblings, Howell Kirby, Fred Kirby and Thelma Davenport; and his grandson Phillip McClure.

He is survived by: his daughters, Deborah Bruce, Cindy Hensley, Jennifer Turnmire and Heather Hensley; and his pet Bella. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
