He was predeceased by: his parents, Fredrick Smith and Louise Smith; his wife Edna Smith; his children, Vicky Smith and James Smith; and his siblings, Dennis, Charles Smith, Louanne Antil and Regina "Midge" Parody.
He is survived by: his children, Sarah Bates of Franklin, NC and Fred Smith (Cathy); and his siblings, Timothy Smith, Victoria Austin and Rosemary "Sandy" Lenweaver. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the East Fork Cemetery (128 E Fork Cemetery Rd, Sylva, NC 28779).
