He was predeceased by: his father Robert Young; his wife Mary P. Woodall; and his sons, Gary Woodall and Joseph Woodall. He is survived by: his children, Debbie Brunner (Jay) of Clayton and Dean Woodall of Four Oaks; his grandchildren, Jason Woodall (April), Jeremy Allen (Lindsay), Jessica Woodall, Jennifer Woodall, Joseph Woodall, Adam Woodall (Catherine), April Lewis (Scott) and Barbara Jean Allen; and his stepchildren, Bobby Creech and Judy Strickland. He is also survived by twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
