He was predeceased by: his parents, Needham Massey and Mavis Wood Massey; his wife Ila Ruth Lee Massey; his grandson Seth Thomas Leon Munday; and his siblings, Ruth-Elaine Massey and Linwood Massey.
He is survived by: his children, Cynthia Massey Munday of Wilsons Mills, Wanda Massey of Four Oaks and James Massey, Jr. (Kayla) of Four Oaks; his sisters, Dianne Barnes (Donnie) of Four Oaks, Linda Wells of Four Oaks and Peggy Massey of Four Oaks; and his grandchildren, Priscilla Johnson (Daniel), Cassie McDonald (Colton), Summer Stephenson, Eric Stephenson (Brianna), Elijah Massey and Crystal Barefoot (John). He is also survived by grand babies and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove (503 Raleigh St, Newton Grove, NC 28366). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
