He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Purdy and Mary Ella Pollard; his brothers, Richard, Andy and Joe Purdy; and his cousin Wayne Faison.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Faye; his children, Toby Gene Purdy (Jennifer) and Tonya King (Adam); his brother Michael Purdy (Ruth); his brother-in-law Carlie Barbour; his grandchildren, Gabriel, Noah, Courtney, Lizzie, Tristen and Wesley; and his great grandchild Brooke. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews.
