He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherwood Johnson and Mavis Johnson; his brother Terry Johnson; and his stepgrandchildren, Anthony Brian Hall, Cameron Michael Hall and Garrett Lee Hall.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Massengill Johnson; his daughter Denise Lynn Johnson of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Donna Nicole Locklear of Raleigh and Nicholas Alan Mitchell of Raleigh; his stepdaughter Loretta Hall (Tony) of Benson; his stepgrandchildren, Toni Faith Hall Braswell (Joseph) of Four Oaks, Jesse Micah Hall of Georgia and Amanda Hall Benson (Derek) of Four Oaks; his siblings, Dewitt Johnson of Clayton, Gary Johnson (Brenda Gail) of Four Oaks, Jerry Johnson of Benson, Royce Johnson (Amy) of Four Oaks and Sherry Hudson (Neal) of Benson; and his nieces and nephews, Anthony Johnson, Terri Lynn Coats, Jonathan Johnson, Tammy Lassiter, Ethan Hudson, Matthew Hudson and Alan Johnson.

In accordance with NC-COVID19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.
