He was predeceased by: his parents, John Herman and Thelma Arnold Long; and his siblings, Theresa "Lynn" Long, Gail Poland and John Edward Long.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Ezzelle Long; his children, Jennifer Johnson (Stephen) of Florida and Michael Long (Lorie) of Wilson; his stepchildren, Renee Dillon (Jeff) of Havelock, Andy Hicks (Erin) of Indiana and Daniel Hicks (Amanda) of Nashville; his sisters, Beverly Bulluck (Jimmy) of Rocky Mount and Ann Wilson of Florida; his close friend Sue Worthington; his family, Bonnie Collins, Tom, Kathy Carnes, Rand, Ann Ward, Janice Bass, Tommy and Jo Rita Lancaster; and also, Jayme and Cindy. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews along with extended family and friends.
