He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Floyd Owens and Annie Windham Owens of Fountain, NC.; his son Cecil Lymont Owens of Rocky Mount, NC; and his siblings, Elbert, Irving, Hilton, Wilton Owens and Marie Owens Hines of Fountain, NC..

He is survived by: his wife Marie Jordan Owens of Rocky Mount, NC; his son James Owens (Becky); his granddaughters, Robin Owens Latham (Mike) of Rocky Mount, NC and Michele Owens of Rocky Mount, NC; and his daughter-in-law Barbara Owens of Kernersville, NC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and cherished friends.

“James, I was sorry to hear about your father and didn't learn of it until today. I remember him as a nice and gracious man that would play his accordian when I used to go to your house and play. That was almost 70 years ago, and I did stop by his store and grill to grab a hotdag. I remember living up that path in front of your house there on hwy 95, now 97. May God bless you and your family.
