He was predeceased by: his parents, H. Frank Hines and Bertha Warren Hines; his significant other Marie Owens Hines; and his siblings, Marion Hines (Doodle), Keith Hines and Lois Pruitt.

He is survived by: his children, Wesley Hines (Peggy) of Snow Hill and Tracey Hines of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Adrienne, Miguel, Sabrina, Esmerelda, Christopher and Joel; his great grandchildren, Sylas, Alina, Amir, Clio and Tillie; and his siblings, Billy Hines (Mary) of Wilson, Jesse Hines (Anita) of Henagar, Alabama, Glenda Flora of Macclesfield, NC, Flora Wooten of Ecuador and Cathy Campbell (Tom) of Greenville. He is also survived by two great grandchildren.
