He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Joanne Nobles (Johnny Byrd) and Murray Benton, Jr.; his grandchildren, Jordan, Justin, Nicholas and Heather (Tristan); his great grandchild Asher; his sister Estelle Peede; his nieces, Sandy, Patsy, Kim and Lisa; and his close friends, Bobby Kilpatrick and Charles Broadway.
