She was predeceased by: her parents, Luther Duncan and Lena Hawkins Duncan; her former husband Bernard Mode; her husband Dennis Trotter; her daughter Rita Hudgins; her grandchildren, Brianna Hudgins and Josh Mode; and her siblings, Odessa Dixon, Ulamae Hollifield, Bonnie Owens, Jack and Earl Duncan.
She is survived by: her sons, Terry Mode (Joanne) of Lake Lure and Greg Mode (Beverly) of Forest City. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
