He was predeceased by: his parents, Bruce Carpenter and Mary Arleen Gillespie Carpenter; his wife Anna Mae Wilson Carpenter; and his brother Robert Carpenter. He is survived by: his children, Terry Carpenter of Forest City, Ron Carpenter (Andra) of Edneyville, Marsha Thomas (Melvin) of Rutherfordton and Lynn Flinchum (Wally) of Dublin, VA; his grandchildren, Tyler Nickols (Hannah), Brett Carpenter (Lexi), Ashlyn Montgomery (David), Mark Minor and Keigan Carpenter; and his stepgranddaughters, Brittney Tilson and Ginger Loberger. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
