He was predeceased by: his parents, John Philbeck and Carrie Tessneer Philbeck; his daughter Charlotte Philbeck Johns; his granddaughter Bethany Conrad; and his siblings, John Wayne of Billy, J. B., John Philbeck, Kay Jones, Joyce Dover, Geraldine Terry and Patsy Moore.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Philbeck; his son Benson Freeman (Amanda) of Bostic; and his grandchildren, Creed Freemen and Ranger Freeman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
