He is survived by: his mother Reba Mae Lail Poteat; his wife Amy Tipton; his son Tyler Tipton of Forest City; and his brothers, Wayne Tipton (Patricia) of Bostic, Scott Tipton of Rutherfordton and Jimmy Tipton (Teresa) of Forest City.
