He was predeceased by: his parents, William Carey and Atheleda Melton Maxwell; and his siblings, Volley Maxwell (Martha), Harriet Lunsford (Jerry) and Frankie Maxwell (Linda).
He is survived by: his children, Tonya Maxwell and Grover Maxwell (Kelly); his grandchildren, Briar and Colten Maxwell; and the mother of his children Elva Towe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
