She was predeceased by: her parents, Gertrude Barnwell and Willie Barnwell; her husband Harvey Hayes; her brother Charles Barnwell; and her grandson Joshua Ballinger.
She is survived by: her daughter Linda Hayes Lance; her sister Willyse Bagwell; and her grandchildren, Jonathan Lance, Jordan Lance, Chris Ballinger, Tiffany Ballinger Noecker and Cara Ballinger Baker. She is also survived by great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that memorial donations be made in Mimi's name to Fletcher First Baptist Church, where she was a faithful and active member, at 5 Cane Creek Road, Fletcher, NC 28732.
